Ricky moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2023. He brings close to 15 years of experience split between public service in South Africa, sports medicine and rehabilitation in Dubai and private practice in New Zealand. He has wide-ranging clinical experience, from ACL and rotator cuff rehab to those struggling with persistent pain. His special interests are in fundamental well-being and musculoskeletal therapy; and he has done further training in pain, strength and conditioning and dry needling.

In his early career he undertook a one-year certificate in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Therapy (also known as Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy). His approach is evidence-based, patient-centred, and blends education, exercise and effective manual therapy with motivating for a lifestyle that brings out your best.

His clinical and personal philosophy aligns with Te Whare Tapa Whā and the four pillars of Hauora/Well-being. He believes in the body’s innate ability to heal and be well and the mahi/work you do together will focus on supporting this. He aims to stay curious, listen intently and understand you and the issue you’re facing; he finds if this is done well, the path ahead can be straightforward (but not necessarily easy).

Outside of work you’ll find him cooking, doing new-dad things, in the gym or sauna, reading something about neuroscience and wellness or attempting to get back into his hobbies (squash/badminton/basketball/flag football, or DJ’ing in his lounge).
